We started in the bus on the south end of the city and ended in the middle of town near the Market Square. We learned about the life in Finland, the government (Socialist) the weather (cold, the whole Baltic Sea freezes in the winter and they have to use ice breaker ships to get through) the light (nearly dark for two months out the year and all daylight another couple months) Apartment life (most are a living room, bedroom and kitchen for about 1,700 US dollars a month). And we drove past the ABBA museum
We visited the stone church a church carved out of the granite in a hill and then to Sibelius Park, constructed to honor Sibelius whose most well known work is Finlandia.
We had a toast at the captains party, then had a great dinner in the ship (lobster). Finally we ended the day watching a broadway type show called "Backstage Pass". The singers and dancers were excellent.
Sorry we do not have any pictures to add to todays Blog. It is always challenging to run the electronics with "less than perfect" connectivity. We hope to add them soon.
